We are seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine who are interested in studying the biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics of blood clot formation.

Research Technician Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, or chemical engineering. Duties: Work independently. Interest in basic biochemistry and molecular biology. Use laboratory equipment, including HPLC, FPLC, spectrophotometer, and fluormeter. Experience with molecular biological techniques, tissue culture, mouse genetics as well as protein purification is desired but not required, however applicant must be willing to learn these techniques. Handle multiple tasks. Excellent organizational skills. Computer literate, including MAC and PC environments. Requires an intellectual and professional approach. Work accurately and pay strict attention to details. Work independently with minimal guidance, with accuracy, discretion and good judgment. Maintain equipment, managing hazardous chemicals, cleaning glassware, and other general responsibilities in laboratory operation. Communicate clearly and work well with others. Participate in planned research projects. Perform protocols. Be flexible and read pertinent research literature. Exercise discretion and judgment in executing and interpretation of experiments and of data derived. Work with murine models, perform histological analyses, may be required.

Postdoctoral Position Qualifications

The position will examine mechanisms contributing to blood coagulation factor specificity and function. Biochemical approaches both in vitro and in vivo are employed to characterize recombinant blood clotting proteins. Applicants for this position should have a strong background in protein biochemistry and have molecular biology experience. Experience with murine models is also desirable. Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, have good communications skills, be highly motivated and be willing to work on a multidisciplinary team.
